$ 170,000 Total Committed Sector: Athletic Scholarships Target Population: Teens Dream Big! Enables girls in grades K-12 from economically disadvantaged communities to engage in organized sports, recreation, and physical activities by providing basic athletic equipment and assisting with enrollment and participation fees. College Showcase Fund $150,000 for 3 year award: WFBoston contributed $50,000 to grow the scholarship fund enabling elite Greater Boston high school girl athletes to compete at the national showcase events where most college recruiting occurs. For the girls that Dream Big! serves, the minimal enrollment fees and travel costs make it prohibitively expensive to attend. This important fund will drive growth of college athletic scholarships and overall college attendance by increasing Boston girls participation at team tryouts. Ultimately, this fund aims to get hundreds of Greater Boston elite athletic girls into college. $20,000 COVID Funding: Dream Big! needed to vacate their office by the end of August 2020 due to property redevelopment, and required funds to make the move. This grant covered moving and interim storage costs. COVID Grant Impact: WFBoston’s grant enabled Dream Big! to provide summer jobs for several female student athletes who helped with the sports equipment distribution and packing up the warehouse. More than 950 girls benefited: 402 girl athletes received equipment and sports attire and 555 girls received P.E. equipment. GRANTEE SPOTLIGHTS
