STEM Enrichment at Girl Scouts of Eastern MA’s Summer Camps
Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) builds girls of courage, confidence, and character through engaging activities focused on life skills, entrepreneurship, STEM, and the outdoors.
Fun Fact! GSEMA is the largest regional STEM provider for girls!
In Summer 2024, girls at Camp Cedar Hill practiced math skills with the Path to the Planets board game, experimented with concepts like pneumatics with the Hydraulic STEM kit, and explored Newton’s laws of motion with Newton’s Cradle STEM kit.

Young STEMinists in Action at Girls Inc. of Worcester!
Girls Inc. of Worcester (GIW) inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through innovative programming that addresses key topics like STEM, leadership skills, financial literacy, and career exploration.
In Fall 2024, GIW received STEM kits to augment their afterschool programming for middle school girls, creating more hands-on opportunities for problem solving, applying logic, and working as a team. The girls actively participated with the kit activities, ranging from a space-themed math board game to a bacteria culture experiment.
The young STEMinists enjoyed swabbing different areas of the room and worked together to determine the objects that carried the most bacteria. Most participants were surprised to discover that the room they work in has so many bacteria, despite the building being cleaned daily. This key finding highlighted the importance of frequent handwashing!
