Here’s a few reasons why volunteers enthusiastically support the Women’s Foundation with their time and skills:
“The most precious gift that we have is people. It is imperative that we volunteer and give back to our communities in anyway we can.” – Chandra Clark, Advisory Council Member
“Building a community of like-minded women gave me a sense of hope during a period that was difficult to meet people.” – Marilisa Gabresi, Volunteer
“As a volunteer with the Foundation, I am also learning and growing. The other women involved are from diverse backgrounds, represent resilience and strength and serve as an inspiration.” – Lori Smith Britton, Board of Directors
Volunteer Projects: Summer 2024
1/ Host a Friend-raiser or Fundraiser
You can throw your own fundraiser or friend-raiser! Maximize your impact by bringing your friends, family, neighborhood, or coworkers together to eat, drink, and learn more about supporting women and girls. Friend/Fundraisers are a quick and easy way to raise awareness and/or support for the Women’s Foundation of Boston. Invite folks to attend, tell them about why you care about investing in economically empowering programming for women and girls in Greater Boston and across the Commonwealth, have Foundation staff come and speak with your guests and answer any questions, and leave them with an easy way to donate or get involved.
2/ Join our team and run the Boston 10K for Women
We are thrilled to share that for the fourth year in a row, the Women’s Foundation of Boston has been chosen as a charity partner for the Boston 10K for Women. This race was the first all-women’s sporting event in 1977, and since has inspired thousands of women to lace up and run for great causes. This year’s run starts at 9am on October 12 in the Boston Common. By joining the Women’s Foundation of Boston’s team, your run will continue to fuel our inspiring mission of economically empowering women and girls in Greater Boston and across the Commonwealth. Register here with code ‘2024.’
3/ Update our Women and Girls Index of Massachusetts (WGIMA)
Review and finalize the WSO/GSO Index Python program; produce the 2023 index figures including a presentation to present to the staff and Board of Directors.
4/ Update research on other women’s foundations and women and girls research
Compile all relevant national and local research highlighting the status of women and girls, to ensure the Women’s Foundation utilizes existing data as well as supplements and updates out of date research profiles.
5/ Help manage the College Summer Intern Program
Oversee our summer internship program, including but not limited to: plan, recruit, interview, hire, on-board, and supervise our fabulous summer interns! An internship with the Women’s Foundation can provide college students the opportunity to engage with our mission directly and to learn from our expansive network of leaders and partner organizations.
6/ Graphic Designer
